Our Forest School Holiday Clubs are suitable for children aged five to eight who do not attend FRUK already, and from three and four years of age, if they are enrolled at the FRUK Forest Kindergarten, or have previously attended one of our provisions. Those that are new to FRUK and the unique nature of our setting MUST be 5yrs or above. Please always e-mail us first before making a Ticket Tailor booking if you are unclear on the above criteria for ages.
We propose 5yrs plus for those that are brand new to FRUK due to the unique nature of our Holiday Clubs. We cannot implement our gentle settling in policy when younger children are only coming for a few days. Parents always stay on site for the first few sessions / weeks at the Forest Kindergarten and we don’t permit this at the Holiday Club.
Children whom are attending the FRUK Forest Kindergarten are given priority booking on places, to ensure continuity of childcare if required. We then release details to the wider community via our VIP mailing list and our social media platforms. To request to join FAMLY, our mailing list, please e-mail us. Please note we are not able to offer 1:1 care at our Holiday Clubs if this is usually required at a child’s school setting. Parents are not required to stay with their child.
We open the FRUK Forest School Holiday Club during the half terms, Easter & summer holidays. (Subject to staff availability.)
- Full Day Session only 9.15 am – 3.15 pm.
- Each child needs to bring a change of clothes, a water bottle and a healthy packed lunch that all fits into a back pack the child can easily carry. Please note we request that all lunches are nut free at our Holiday Clubs.
- We offer places for 15 – 20 children per day.
- FRUK provides healthy and nutritious, predominantly organic, snacks and drinks in the morning and afternoon. We also forage locally and cook food over a campfire.
- What happens when it rains?
We get our waterproofs on and jump in muddy puddles or seek shelter under our tarps and tents. In severe bad weather e.g. high winds and/or thunder storms which would make our site unsafe or other unforeseen circumstances we will continue the session indoors visiting a local library or local museum.
We suggest a minimum attendance per week of 2 days per child, so that we can build on the skills and activities of the Forest School Ethos.
All places for the Holiday Club must be booked via Ticket Tailor. Book tickets here
Our next FRUK Forest School holiday club takes place during the February half term. The dates for the Spring Holiday Club are Monday 17 February – Friday 21 February. Tickets are now on sale for this event.
At FRUK our aim is to provide gender balance across all our provisions for those attending our Forest School. Historically we have had far more boys than girls attend our Holiday Clubs. Therefore, where possible, we have chosen to offer half our places available each day at our Holiday Club to girls and half to boys in order to ensure gender balance.
If you are unable to book the desired day for the gender of your child please send us an e-mail and we will add you to our waiting list.
Also if you have signed up to our mailing list please ensure you have marked our e-mail address in your address book as safe to ensure our news is not being sent to your spam or junk folder.
We have a limited number of places available per day, so if you would like your child to attend, we advise booking as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. If booking is closed, please e-mail us to join FAMLY to receive news of when places are available to book for our next Holiday Club and also e-mail us to be put on our cancellation list for a last minute place.
Our policies and procedures our housed within the FRUK Library, Please also see our FAQs for answers to common questions, Starting with FRUK for more about kit needed and requirements, or if you have any questions which aren’t answered on those pages please contact us. We aim to respond to your query within 48hrs.
