We are delighted to have been rated ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted.
Our Ofsted Unique Reference Number (URN): EY492688.
On June 7 2016 we were inspected by Ofsted and the full report has now been published on their website and we can officially shout about it!
We were surprised to be inspected so soon after launching as a full time Forest Kindergarten (5 months) but all went extremely well, despite the challenging weather conditions on the day of torrential rain and a thunderstorm, our first ever at FRUK and a first for the inspector too!
This was the first fully outdoors setting the inspector had visited and as such it is a positive step for the Forest School community that we can demonstrate covering all 7 areas of the curriculum and fulfil all other criteria as detailed in the EYFS statutory framework. The entire FRUK team have worked incredibly hard and we are extremely proud of what we have achieved in a short space of time. We look forward to the future as we develop our practice and become further established.
A huge thank you to our parents and children too who have supported and helped make FRUK the success it is. It’s been an amazing journey together.
Below are some highlights from the report.
Children enjoy exercise that helps to support their physical development and well- being. They learn to manage and take calculated risks safely.
Staff have good teaching techniques, such as asking questions to encourage children to think and to develop their speaking and listening skills. Staff support children well to develop their literacy and mathematical skills.
Children have high levels of independence and make their own choices about their play.
Staff foster a love and respect for the natural world. They provide practical experiences and outdoor learning so that children benefit from a wide range of stimulating natural learning experiences.
